Studio Genius Loci – Ing. Peter J. Hoogstaden

Genius Loci Turismo S.r.l. was co-founded by Ing. P.J. Hoogstaden MSc, Head of ‘Studio Genius Loci’.

‘Studio Genius Loci’ is a civil engineering consultancy firm, specialised in landscape planning, nature conservation management & sustainable tourism.

As a consultant Ing. Peter J. Hoogstaden has advised many  different organisations, both on behalf of the EU and coordinates several EU-funded projects.

Over the last 25 years he has been a consultant for many public bodies in Italy (Regions, Provinces, Comunes, ‘Comunità Montane’, National & Regional Parks, G.A.L., etc.) on issues such as landscape planning, tourism planning in (protected) natural areas, nature conservation management, rural development, valorisation of natural & cultural resources, (sustainable) tourist development, development of tourist infrastructure, international cooperation, etc.

Several feasibility studies, developed by ‘Studio Genius Loci’, have been turned into projects and proposed for EU-funding (FESR, Leader, Life,..). Many of these projects have been financed, which has resulted in the creation of a large range of newly opened footpaths & nature trails, all over Southern Italy, as well as in the creation of related tourist infrastructure. Several studies have resulted in an enormous increase in tourism (examples are Agerola & the ‘Path of the Gods’).

Several training courses on the above mentioned issues have been organised by ‘Studio Genius Loci’, on behalf of Universities and other public bodies, mainly through EU funding.  Ing. Peter J. Hoogstaden still teaches in several master classes.
